The Deep Narcissism of Academia and Healthcare

There is a deep narcissism that runs through academia and healthcare, far more than any other profession.

These are 2 domains that attract a great number of people who like to be perceived as smart, rather than actually be smart.

These are systems that harbor a *type* of person. Those who enjoy the status and authority that comes from society’s unexamined assumptions.

Like the ivy clinging to their institution’s walls, they gain height and prominence off the labor of the wall beneath it; taking credit for discoveries made by those who actually create things.

Logically, a great deal of societal deterioration and cultural rot should be expected to emanate from academia and healthcare.
