Great Explainers, Bad Teachers
Only the Adventure of Reality can Teach You
Creative people make great explainers but bad teachers.
Teachers are those who pretend the world is different than it is, packaging life’s truths into artificial linear stories that students find assuring and settled.
The builder knows this is not how things work, specifically learning. Their mastery came from nonlinear, out-of-order and in-context trial.
The builder can show others how they do what they do, explaining deep truths clearly. But the student is unlikely to embrace such an approach, instead sinking back to the artificial comfort of step-by-step instruction.
People prefer the comfort of stories over the adventure of reality. But only one will bring you mastery.
