A Lifetime is Enough

The youthful obsession with living forever stems from a mindset where patterns seem new. Music sounds new, movies look new, foods taste new, travel looks new. One assumes such newness has no bounds.

But patterns recur, inside a finite and not so large set of possibilities. As one marches through life we see just how much doesn’t change, despite the many faces of “new” celebrated by the latest generation.

Very few elderly wish to live forever, and I believe most would not change their mind should one grant them returned vitality; a point many young people would find difficult to understand.

The truth is, the limits on life are not just physical. They are also experiential.

A lifetime is enough.
